Which was what was intended. A perfect excuse to continue the military occupation of the middle east at huge cost of life and money. That being said, what do we do now? We cannot undo the past and it is not possible politically or morally to remove the Israelis from that region.

First, we must decide what side of this we are on, or if we are going to take a "side". This is fundementally important. One cannot be on both sides of a conflict, nor can one straddle the fence. If we are to be involved IN ANY WAY we must decide what our pronciples are and what we really believe in, what we are willing to risk money, materials and lives for. Once that decision is made, it is an all or nothing proposition.

Second, act on our decison with no second thoughts.

My own opinion is that Israel has been a very poor ally, it is a socialist country that has no racial or cultural validity for existing in that region of the world. However, it is much more to our liking than the nutball islamic hordes that surround it. That leaves two choices. One, stay out of the whole area and let the arabs attack Israel and get wiped out. Or, we get involved on the side of Israel. The only way I would do this is to remove our troops from the middle east and let the arabs have their land back and let them go back to killing one another. Announce to the world that Israel is our friend and ally and any attack against them will result in the absolute anhilation of the source of the attack. And then stand behind our word. Not with troops, but with nuclear missles. We absolutely immolate the offending counntry and we do not help to rebuild it. Just turn it to glass.

To make any of this work, we must end the EPA and start drilling here. Building pipelines and power plants, mining coal and uranium. We must first be able so survive without the camel's oil. Since our government, both sides of the aisle, is absolutely not going to let this happen, we are bound to continue killing and blowing shit up in the middle east forever. And that cannot be afforded, fiscally or morally.

Just my take,

Nappy

Been gone too long...

Wow, haven't been here in a little over a year. No excuses and no apologies. A few of my ramblings will follow. 1. The republicrats and democlicans are arguing over a $60 billion cut in our federal budget. What a joke. The interest on our ON-BUDGET debt is around $200 billion per year and going up. Cuts of less than $200 billion are a joke. 2. Obamacare continues to grow in cost and scope while the obaminator and his henchmen hand out immunity to their buddies. This is criminal. 3. If government is the answer, it is a stupid question. 4. The obaminator said he did not believe that a president had the power to start wars and invade countries without the approval of Congress. That was when Bush II was starting wars in the Mid-East. Now, when he invades Libya, it is OK. 5. Japan got hit and hit hard by the earthquake and tsunami. Bad news indeed. However, the reporting of the media is almost as big a disaster. There are reports of Iodine 131 being found in various parts of the US and the inference is made that it came from the messd up reactors in Japan. Also, the amount found is either not mentioned or is placed at the very end of misleading articles as an afterthought. One article I read admitted that the amount found was one two hundred thousandths of the amount allowed for nuclear power plants to release. Think about that for a minute. 6. You and your family are at much more risk from your local, state and federal governments than you are from any terrorist or busted nuclear reactor. 7. We all need to read and learn. Then, sit down and think how the information fits together and how everything is related. Learn, think and talk with others involved in like pursuits. Feeling is emotional and while it can be comforting, can also lead us to make quick and incorrect conclusions and decisions. Well, I reckon I will leave that to be the rant of the day. nappy

a note to kongress

senator,
I am beside my self with anger and fear. I have tossed this whole thing around and around in my head trying to figure out where to start. Now, this is likely to be a rambling piece, but here it goes.

First, we cannot break the laws of economics with impunity. The laws of supply and demand are paramount and will out always. So….lets us look at the situation from that paradigm:
If government is able to force insurance companies to cover everyone with no exceptions and with no rate increases, the insurance companies will go out of business. The employees of said insurance companies will be out of their jobs. They will not be paying taxes. Government income drops. The insurance companies pay income and corporate taxes and fees as well. No more. Government income drops again.

Now, one of the important functions of insurance companies is to gather and invest capital. This capital pool will dry up. That will cut the money going into new ventures, commercial bonds and will also cut large deposits in banks. Less money available for mortgages, less money to invest in plant equipment etc. So, all of the folks that had jobs that stemmed from these investments won’t be working. Won’t be paying taxes and will likely be on unemployment. Less money going into government and more coming out.
Let us look at the situation so far: Much less money coming in. And, as the folks migrate to government support, the liabilities of government increase. Deficits? Yes, higher, much higher. Debt? Higher, much higher.

Well, the insurance companies are finished and the government is the single payer that some seem to think they want. So now, we have more folks seeking healthcare and where are they going to get it? Doctors, clinics and hospitals. They will also need stuff like medicine, syringes, scalpels, braces, sheets, gowns……, you get the idea, The government will have very limited resources with which to purchase these goods and services. What will it do? If history is any indicator, it will impose price controls on the suppliers. Since the market will no longer dictate price, there will be what economists call “negative externalities”. What does that mean? It means that many companies will be expected to produce goods and services at a price less than the cost of production. Then, what do you think will happen? Yes, you are right. The companies and doctors will go out of business. What then? Less supply against a still high demand? If you guess higher costs, go the front of the class!! Now is should be noted that higher costs are not always denominated in dollars. Some costs are non-monetary. An example of higher non-monetary costs, is a patient dying because there is no care available. Quite a high cost if you are the dead person or one who loves and/or depends on the corpse.

Oh, I forgot: all of those companies will lay off the folks no longer needed since there is no company. Those folks will go on the dole as well. Higher costs. Those companies and doctors will also stop paying taxes as they are out of business. Result: More folks in line for benefits and less of a supply of benefits. What happens? Yep, higher costs yet.

The United States tax rates are already above the point where raising them will cause a higher government income. In other words, raising taxes will curtail business to the point where the net tax revenue will drop rather than increase. There is no one left to tax that has the money to support any more government.

Now, this scenario assumes that the government healthcare program will be somewhat efficient. Since this has never been the case in any other government program in history, it is prudent to assume that our healthcare will plummet in quality and in quality. And the cost will be huge, just in monetary terms. The negative externalities, the non-monetary costs, will be death, pain and maimed people. Which will cut productivity and will raise monetary costs yet again.

This is a disaster waiting to happen. Once put in motion, this will cause a collapse in our healthcare industry that we seem to be trying to turn into a “system”. Since our country is already broke, this could completely destroy our entire way of life. The straw that breaks the camel’s back, so to speak.

Note to my kongresskritters

I see that the kriminals in kongress have decided to raise the debt limit by ANOTHER $1.9 trillion. Together Fannie and Freddie have now led the entire world into the worst economic collapse in 80 years.
The War on Poverty was started in 1964 - they've had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our hard earned money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor"; it hasn't worked.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 - they've had 44 years to get it right; they are both broke; and now our government dares to mention them as models for all US health care.
AMTRAK was established in 1970 - they've had 39 years to get it right; last year they bailed it out as it continues to run at a loss!
This year, a trillion dollars was committed in the massive political payoff called the Stimulus Bill of 2009; it shows NO sign of working; it's been used to increase the size of governments across America, and raise government salaries while the rest of us suffer from economic hardships. It has yet to create a single new private sector job. Our national debt projections (approaching $10 trillion) have increased 400% in the last six months.
"Cash for Clunkers" was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009 - - after 80% of the cars purchased turned out to be produced by foreign companies, and dealers nationwide are buried under bureaucratic paperwork demanded by a government that is not yet paying them what was promised.
So with a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that each and every "service" shoved down our throats by an over-reaching government turns into disaster, how could any informed American trust our government to run or even set policies for America's health care system - - 17% of our economy?
Maybe each of us has a personal responsibility to let others in on this brilliant record before 2010, and then help remove from office those who are voting to destroy capitalism and destroy our grandchildren's future.
“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labours of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” - Thomas Jefferson

Tulsa Time

In Tulsa, OK this morning waiting to get a flat fixed. Warm and humid here.
I see the New and Improved Democrat/Obama healthcare plan will include the creation of 53 new bureaucracies. Would someone please tell me how that will encourage efficiency and lower costs? I know, stupid question.
Think about the following: If you belong to you, then you are responsible for you. If you choose to cede the responsibility for your own upkeep, would it not follow that you also cede your authority? If that is the case, would it not also follow you are ceding ownership to yourself. He who controls a thing, owns a thing. For those who wish to live in thrall to a government, that is fine. Go ahead and volutarily sell yourself into slavery. Just know that is what you are doing. When you take the man's money, you take the man's orders. You are owned. You are a slave. You are chattel. To be kept in the manner the master sees fit. To be disposed of when you are of no further use.
If that is your wish, have right at it. But, be kind enough to leave me out of it. I do not wish to be owned, cared for, or controlled.
Be very aware: If you choose to give someone else, be it government or single man, the responsibilty and authority to take care of you, you are also giving that entity control of you. That is ownership my friend. Are you really willing to live the rest of your life as an owned slave?

In Spokane, WA

I left Atlanta, GA Wednesday evening and picked up a load in LaVergne, TN. Thurdsay morning, I lit out for the Northwest. A good run.

Once I got up into the north country, the temperatures dropped and life was good. Shut the truck down and open the windows to sleep. Nice!

I had hoped to meet my youngest brother in Sturgis, SD. He drove his converted bus up from San Francisco to the bike rally there. Due to some delays, he got there well after I did. So.... we missed each other. Another time perhaps.

I will unload in the morning and am hoping they (dispatch) have freight out of here. Williams, Ph.D.
Strike one
In violation of Article 1, Section 2, of the U.S. Constitution, President Barack Obama has
assumed complete control of the 2010 Census.
This Article, which concerns the legislative rather than executive branch of government,
stipulates that the “enumeration” be conducted by a commerce official under the
supervision of the Senate and the House of Representations. It reads:
Representation and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which
may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers … . The actual
Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of
the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as
they (the House of Representatives and the Senate) shall by Law direct.
When the Oval Office side-stepped this stipulation, Senator Judd Greg, who was then Mr.
Obama’s choice as Secretary of Commerce, announced his withdrawal from
consideration.
“This was simply a bridge too far for me,” Mr. Greg said.
Strike Two.
In violation of Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, Mr. Obama has ordered federal
border patrol officials to scale down enforcement so that the Census will be artificially
swollen by the influx of millions of illegal Latinos.
Defending Mr. Obama’s illegal directive, Deputy Census Director Preston Jay Waite told
the press that raids on illegals occurred during the population count would make a
“distrustful group” less likely to cooperate with government workers who are supposed to
obtain an accurate head count of the people living in the U.S.
Strike Three.
Mr. Obama has adopted a further means to guarantee the outcome so that the
redistribution will serve his agenda.
A whopping $14 billion has been set aside for the Census.
With this money, Mr. Obama has obtained the services of “Census partners” - -
organizations that will assist the Commerce department in the head count.
A lion’s share of the $14 billion has been set aside for a “community-based” organization
that specializes in fraud and deceptive practices.
Why would Mr. Obama go to such extremes for the sake of the Census?
The answer is simple.
The tally will re-chart the political map of the country.
It will determine which states gain seats in Congress and which ones lose them.
It will divert billions in federal funds to states and cities with the greatest number of
illegal aliens.
And it will forever change the racial composition of the home of the free and the land of
the brave.
To conduct the 2010 Census, President Obama has partnered with more than two hundred
civic organizations, including the following:
» 100 Black Men of America
» African American Women’s House of Imagene (sic) Shelter<br groups serve the common good.
They represent the specific interests of diverse racial and ethnic groups.
Most are concerned with the specific concerns of blacks, Asians, and Latinos.
Not one of Mr. Obama’s partners represents the despised race of white Europeans who
established this nation 233 years ago.
Excluded from the list are such well-established groups as the Elks Club, the Moose
Lodge, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the German American Society, the
French American Foundation, the Polish American Historical Association, the St. George
Society, and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
One group stands to profit more than any other.
The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, better known as
ACORN, will be raking in billions from the massive undertaking.
Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachman contends that President Obama has forked
over $8.4 billion to ACORN since he has come into office, a number that far surpasses
the $53 million given in the past 15 years.
The $8.4 billion, according to Ms. Bachman, has been doled out from the public coffers
to subside ACORN’s participation in the Census.
“ACORN has received $53 million from 1994 to today, but now, since President Obama
has come into office, he is making available $8.5 billion – with a ‘b’ - to ACORN, an
organization that is repeatedly under indictment for voter fraud in multiple states across
the country,” Ms. Bachmann says.
Ms. Bachman, who will not complete all the questions in the Census Form because they
go beyond what the law requires, adds: “”This is the last organization that should have
the taxpayer’s wallet open to them but unfortunately, under President Obama, he is
multiplying the amount of money available to them.”
ACORN calls itself a community-based advocacy group that serves low to moderate
income families. The group, in fact, is a multi-million-dollar, racially charged
conglomerate. Its liberal political agenda is driven primarily by a handful of political
thugs for hire.
ACORN promotes economic policies (like raising the minimum wage), but doesn’t want
to abide by them.
Recently, the group, ACORN sued the state of California to get out of paying its own
employees the minimum wage, and even fought their efforts to create a union.
Before “subprime” became a household word, ACORN waded into the mortgage market,
supporting policies that helped lay the groundwork for the catastrophic lending collapse
of 2008. Working with another activist group, the Center for Responsible Lending,
ACORN lobbied legislators and banks to ensure that any person, regardless of credit
history, income, or assets, would qualify for a mortgage. They mastered the art of
pressuring banks – often through radical and controversial methods – to provide subprime
loans to all comers. It was many of these “toxic” loans that defaulted and sparked the
subprime mortgage crisis.
ACORN’s influence extends to the political sphere as well. The group gained national
headlines during the 2008 election when its workers turned in fraudulent voter
registration files, which included the names of the Dallas Cowboys’ starting lineup as
voters in Nevada. This act of fraud led to a raid of ACORN’s offices.
Not to be outdone, ACORN canvassers in Florida attempted to turn in forms that
registered Mickey Mouse as a voter and member of the Democratic Party, while ACORN
employees in Connecticut managed to place a seven-year old girl on the voting rolls.
Nation-wide investigations into ACORN’s role in voter fraud have yielded dozens of
indictments. Nevada recently charged ACORN with 26 counts of voter registration fraud
and 13 counts of illegally compensating canvassers. In Pennsylvania, seven Pittsburgharea
ACORN employees were charged with falsifying voter registration forms. Six of
them were accused of doing so to meet an illegal quota system.
“The land was ours before we were the land’s,” the poet Robert Frost recited at the
Inauguration of John F. Kennedy in 1961.
The land, fifty years later, will no longer be the land of which Mr. Frost spoke.
It will have been taken from us by a renegade president.

Why California is broke.

Not mine, but appropriate:

> Basic Economics - here is why California is broke! Let me explain... there are two families. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal - Both families have two parents, two children, and they live inCalifornia. > > Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted - Jose Illegal also works construction, has NO Social Security number and gets paid $15.00 cash per hour "under the table." > > Joe Legal - $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week or $52,000 per year minus 30% away for state and federal taxes... Joe Legal now has $31,231.00 per year. > > Jose Illegal - $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week or $31,200 per year. Jose Illegal pays NO taxes out of his illegal $31,200.00 per year salary. > > Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage $1000.00 per month (in California ) or $12,000 per year. Joe Legal now has $19,231.00. > > Jose Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the State of California and Local 'City of Angels ' (L.A) Health Clinics at an annual cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has his $31,200.00 yearly salary. > > Joe Legal makes too much money is therefore NOT eligible for Food Stamps or Welfare, so he pays for food at around $1,000.00 per month or $12,000 per year. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00. > > Jose Illegal has no documented income therefore, he is eligible for Food Stamps and various forms of Welfare. Jose Illegal still has his $31,200.00 (Cha-Ching!). > > Joe Legal pays also has a house payment of $1,000.00 per month or $12,000.00 per year and he is now in the hole to the tune of (-) $4,769.00. > > Since Jose Illegal... remember, has no documented income... he also receives a $500 per month Federal Rent Subsidy - this subsidy pays his rent at $500.00 per month or $6,000.00 per year - he still has $31,200.00 in his pocket. > > Joe Legal sees this happening and realizes he has to figure out some way to make ends meet or he is going to lose his house - so... he now works as much overtime as he can. He finds a part time job on the weekends and evenings. > > Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family. Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored breakfast and lunch. > > Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home after school. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Protection Services, but Joe Legal paid for them and Jose Illegal did not. > > Joe Legal must repay educational loans for his children to go to college - Jose Illegal does not. Therefore Joe Legal cannot afford to send his children to College - Jose Illegal can! > > California taxpayers (like Joe Legal) pay for all of Jose Illegal's stuff. That totals over $42,000 in this example. So Jose Illegal has his $31,200 plus at least $42,000 of value received each year or the equivalent of $73,200 after tax income. Joe Legal is struggling and Jose Illegal leads a pretty good life. > > And Voila - California is now broke, busted, and disgusted. And now, you and I will bail them out.

Right to healthcare.....NOT!!

There can be no rights to material things. If there were, you would have the right to take them from me, and, then, I would have the right to take them from you. Thus cancelling them out. Rights must not be mutually exclusive or they do not exist. If you think you have the right to force someone to provide good or a service to you for what YOU are willing to pay without regard to the needs and wants of the provider, you believe you have the right to steal. If you can steal, then so can I. That ain’t gonna work too well. Healthcare is not a system and it is not a program. It is an industry and depends on the flow of capital from the users to the providers in the form of payment and profit. If profit is eliminated, the product will be too. And, for those of you that think that the system is so good in the UK, understand this: Their country is completely bankrupt. People are routinely denied necessary medical procedures and medicine AND they had to restore the ability of the populace to BUY treatment with their own money. Why do you think that is? There ain’t nuthin free, folks. “If government is the answer, it is a stupid question.” By the way, I got an idea: Why don’t all of those who want socialized medicine form a club and pool your money to provide yourselves with whatever you can come up with and leave the rest of us out of it? Wouldn’t that be fair? You guys could have all fo the benefits of a socialized heathcare system and be able to deny us infidels the same!!

Letter to kriminals in kongress

I am completely beside myself with anger. You folks in congress are paying no attention to your constituents and are spending money like drunk sailors in a whorehouse. You have shown complete disregard for your oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, AS IT IS WRITTEN, and a complete disregard for, or misunderstanding of ,basic economics.
First: Cash for clunkers: What moron thought that insanity up? First, you have no right to steal money from taxpayers to buy anyone a car for any reason. This is patently absurd.. Second, crushing perfectly good cars is insane. “Waste not, want not” is an adage that most of us have learned to live by. From an environmental standpoint, the melting down of, and making a new car of an old car uses much more energy that the car would use in its entire life. Second, the $4500 per car that you all are stealing from taxpayers and giving to someone to buy a car (UNCONSTITUTIONAL) would buy one hell of a lot of fuel for the old car. From an economical standpoint, it is pure insanity.
Second: Buying into GM and Chrysler: UNCONSTITUTIONAL. And, the companies are insolvent because of idiotic management, criminal unions empowered by a criminal federal government to make efficiency impossible and criminally insane government regulations. Nothing you did will help any of the problems, in fact, everything done will make problems much worse. Now the taxpayers will pay for the insanity ad infinitum. (By the way, YOU BUMS HAD NO CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY TO GET INVOLVED AT ALL).
Third: Bailouts: You have no authority to steal money and give it to anyone for any reason. I have a right to my property. That includes my money. In addition, this will serve to do nothing except to raise a debt that is already beyond payment. Keynes and Marx were wrong. This is simply a method for criminal congress critters to steal money from those who earn it and give it to criminal banksters to get richer off of. (And, I suspect, to get kickbacks as a result)
Healthcare: First, lets us look at the United States Constitution. You will find healthcare mentioned exactly ZERO times. That would lead a rational person to realize that it ain’t none of the federal government’s business. Next, you guys cannot lower costs. Costs are driven by inputs. All you can do is attempt to control price. If you set price controls, you will kill production of the goods and services that comprise our healthcare INDUSTRY (it is not a system, it is an industry). This will result in SHORTAGES. And, the new bureaucracy you guys are going to invent will cost more money than we are spending now and will produce NOTHING of value.
I belong to me. Therefore, I have the AUTHORIY AND RESPONSIBILITY to do with me as I will. It ain’t your business. My healthcare is my business.
If there is any desire to do something positive in that den of thieves, you folks could stop spending money today. Completely. You could start closing government operations all over the place. You could close the federal reserve and put us back on a gold standard. You could get us out of the UN, IMF and the World Bank.
Then, you could investigate the true birthplace of Barack Obama. You could investigate his educational records and his passport records. Now. And, if he is found to be an interloper, you could see that he is jailed for life along with every crooked scum ball that knew of his crimes and did nothing to stop them.
If you cannot address these priorities right now, I ask that you resign and leave this Country permanently .As I said in my opening statement I am madder than hell and am not prepared to put up with anymore communist crap from a criminal congress and president.
(Diminutives intended)
Sincerely,
Benjamin Napier

Morning in SoCal

Up this morning just about sunrise. Looks like it will be a pretty day today, warm.

There is no good news coming out of Washington or New York. Our economy continues to slide, pushed over the edge by a power hungry, criminal government. Here is hoping the United States can survive until we can have another election cycle. Perhaps the populace will wake up and understand the wages of the collective. I haven't much hope of that. We have created a dependent class that is larger than the productive one. They will cotinue to vote themselves goodies until the suppliers of the goodies are done. Then, no more goodies.

What happens then? I am not a soothsayer, but I will hazard a couple of guesses: hunger and martial law. Government will try to fix the situation by trying harder to control everything. And it won't work. If we don't stop the slide to the collective, we will experience first: a command economy that will fail, a return to fiefdoms and feudalism ,and then anarchy and a revisit of the Dark Ages.

Ain't it funny how history tends to repeat itself when we refuse to learn the lessons presented? If we don't have a set of laws that pertain to everyone, and the guaranty of person liberty and the ownership and control of the individual over his or her property, we have serfdom, anarchy, murder and hunger. These are our choices. I shall try to be brief.
1. I need and demand to see a copy of Barak Obama's birth certificate. Now.
2. I demand an end to the spending orgy.
3. I demand the Federal Reserve be closed.
4. I demand the IMF be closed.
5. I demand the UN be thrown out of the United States.
6. I demand an end to all foreign aid.
7.I demand an end to the union threat in this country.
8. I demand the United States return to constitutional government, no more no less.
9. I demand an end to all subsidies of all kinds.
10. I demand an end to all non-funded mandates to the states. (And since we ain't got no money, it should follow that there can be no funded mandates either.)
I am asking that you folks get the federal government out of our lives, out of our bedrooms, out of our bodies, and out of our pockets. Now.
Any congresscritter that cannot do these things need to resign and move to the communist country of their choice. Just not be here. This is the United States of America. The country that celebrates and protects the INDIVIDUAL'S rights and responsibilities. I will not live in a collectivist/communist country and I ain't plannin' on movin'.
The federal government ain't my momma, it ain't my daddy and it ain't my owner. It is my agent. And if it fails to discharge its duties as outlined under the Constitution of the United States of America, it gets fired. Remember? You guys are the hired help. He gave her some meds and it was better for a while. So, we took off on the road and made it to CA and started back. Her back started acting up again. I unloaded in Dallas and took her home. She went back to the doctor and he told her she would need to take it easy. Since there is no easy when bouncing down the road, she is home and I am batching it. There is plenty for her to do at home, hopefully she won't be too bored.
Curious Phoenix67 sent me a message and invited me to join Facebook. What the heck? I did so. A funny thing happened: A man that I had not spoken to since 1971 or 72 called me! I went to a church school with him. Eight grades in one room and a single pedagogue. The boy was my baby brother's running buddy. It was interesting to say the least, talking to him after all these years. Thank you Curious Phoenix!
Congress and the President continue to spend money that does not exist at a breakneck pace. They are trying to run banks and automobile companies. It would be funny if it weren't so serious. A management team that has managed to get our country $65 trillion in debt with no chance of paying is going to "help" private enterprise. I fear we are on a one way street to socialist perdition.
The wages of collectivism are always famine and starvation. I think it will be the same this time. I hate it. The end of the most innovative experiment in human History. The United States, I mean. Free men and women is possession and control of property and assets free to transact as they wished. It built the richest and most healthy culture in the entire history of mankind. All down the tubes as we try the failed socialist collective economy once more. Sad.
I will reiterate: "If government is the answer, it is a stupid question."
Why does anyone believe that a bunch of lying bureaucrats can run their business better than they themselves can? Why ask why.

An oper letter to Nancy Pelosi

Dear Madam Speaker:
I saw your interview where you said children were a drag on the economy and that abortion and birth control were the best way to slow this problem. After thinking a bit, I figure you have a great idea. And to help you with this, I propose you start issuing awards for behavior that will save our economy.

A fellow in Los Angeles, despondent over he and his wife losing their jobs, killed his wife, himself, and his five kids as well! What a guy! He went out of his way to rid our economy of five liabilities and took himself and his wife out as well so there could be no more accidental production of economic liabilities.

Why don't you present him (posthumously of course) the Nancy Pelosi Economic Excellence Award?

Another suggestion: Spring Andrea Yates from the nuthouse down in Texas and appoint her the Family Planning Czar! Surely you remember her, she is the woman who drowned her five kids a while back. What a hero! When not busy promoting birth control and abortion, she would work with Robert Riech in the economics area. A genius like Andrea should really help streamline the operation.

After you get these things done, you may want to look back in history for some deserving folks to recognize for their outstanding work in improving their respective country's economic situations by eliminating drags on the economy. I am thinking of folks like the esteemed Adolph Hitler (credited with eliminating 6 million drags on the economy), Joe Stalin (around 60 million) and last but not least Chairman Mao. He is the man with at least 120 million drags on the economy eliminated!

These folks must be honored! We can get to the more recent and less prolific like yourself and Castro later. These pioneers need to be honored right now!
I am honored to be able to help,

In La La Land For Sure

This from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Unloaded in LA this morning and are waiting for a load. Feaight is slowing, mirroring the economic environment right now.
The following I got off the internet. I read it on drudgereport.com. This is from the Speaker of our esteemed house of criminals and idiots in Washihngton, D.C.

To wit:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."
Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, "Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom," seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury.
The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC's THIS WEEK.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?
PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

Unquote.

Can you believe this? If I am reading this correctly, children are a liablility. Lifelong liabilities. I guess that would make us former children liablilities as well.

Now, as I ain't very smart, I got a couple of questions:

First, since we have spent money that has yet to be printed already, without a new generation of suckers, uh, I mean taxpayers to put on the hook, just who is going to pay all this stuff back? It is borrowed, you know.

Second, if all of us are liabilities, and one of the solutions to said liabilities is to prevent the birth of new suckers, uh, I mean taxpayers, how long before we hear about the elimination of existing taxpayers?

I think there is a word for this: Eugenics.

In a sane world, humans are refered to as "human capital". ie, of value.
We are in dangerous and interesting times, folks.

I must reiterate: If government is the answer, it is a very stupid question.

Nappy

Theft by any other name.

Inflation is the most insidious tax of all. We don't get to vote on it, we don't get a bill for it. It just eats our money relentlessly. And, you may ask, what causes this beast? Purely and simply, the printing (nowadays the electronic creation of) of fiat currency. It is not interest rates or some evil dude in China. It is the Federal Reserve making money up out of nothing and dumping it into our economy. The politicians in Washington love it because they get to spend this money without a peep from we the sheeple.

And how bad is this situation? Take a look at the following:

In 1968, an existing single family median home price in the south was $19,000.00. Ten percent down was $1,900.00. This took 1188 hours of work at a minimum wage of $1.60 per hour to pay for.

In 2008, the median home price was $169,000.00, 10% down was 16,909.00. This took 2582 hours of work at a minimum wage of $6.55 per hour to cover.

This from the US Government and the National Association of Realtors. I can email the entire table if any of you would like to see it.

Not only is your dollar worth less, the hour of your labor is worth less. You are being devalued by a conspiracy between the criminal bankers and the criminals in Washington, DC. You are being systematically robbed of your very labor, initiative, your sweat and the very hours of existence to finance a cabal of thieves.

I strongly recommend the reading of "The Creature From Jeckyl Island" by G. Edward Griffin. It will make you rather angry.

Are we surprised? Solis
President-elect Barack Obama's choice to head the Labor Department has close ties to U.S. communist and socialist organizations and has sent representatives to functions organized by national parties for both ideologies.
The pick of Rep. Hilda L. Solis, D-Calif., a Congressional Hispanic Caucus leader considered to be one of the most reliably pro-union voices in the House, was hailed as a victory by communist and socialist leaders." This from Worldnet Daily

Our new leader (albeit not Constitutionally qualified), has picked a crooks peck of cabinet members. Hilda, here, is representative of the mood in Washington. That being the quick move to complete communism. It is not a Democratic thing. It is bipartisan indeed. Remember, it was our "comapssionate conservative" Bush, that gave us the communist bailouts of the auto makers and the uber rich banksters.

The spectres of a failing economy and a failing environment are being used to make us believe the idots in Washington are going to have to save us. I am not using hyperbole, here.

The economic situation is being peddled as the failure of free market capitalism. Such could not be further from the truth. The failure is of the Federal Reserve (not federal and not a reserve) and the attempts of politicians and other criminal scum in systematically picking the pockets of the productive through the many-headed hydra of inflation, taxation and outright theft.

The environmental movement is purely a method of getting the populace to give up its liberties. We are to be frightened into believing our lifestyles have destroyed the very environment upon which we depend on for survival. Once we have bought that story, it is but a short trip to a totalitarian sociaty in which a select few can direct our economy and our lives. For our own good of course.

It will fail. The so-called "Smart People" are but a bunch of socialist bureaucrats that believe meetings and studies actually accomplish something. None of them know when to plan wheat or tomatoes. None know how or when to butcher a hog. In fact, we are entrusting our lives and our futures to a bunch of clueless politicians.

And keep in mind, no communist, fascist, socialist or national socialist economy has ever survived without massive inflows of cash from capitalist countries. Once we are down the tubes, where will be get our cash? Hmmm? Where will we go t oget medical care? Canadians can come here now. When we have destroyed our successful capitalist system that spins off enough money to have a medical industry, where will they go? Oh, for that matter, where in hell will we go?

You must be resposible for you. There are no "good" people in the nation's capital that are doing anyting out of the goodness of their hearts. It ain't human nature, folks. If "we the people" grant our authorities granted under the Constitution, we will also grant the benefits. We will be slaves to the powers that be. And that will kill many of us. Our very civilization will perish.

As I have said before, "If government is the answer, it is a stupid question."

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://nappysplace.blogspot.com/2008/12/are-we-surprised-we-shouldnt-be.html' title='Are we surprised? Keep in mind that before the onset of the much villified industrial age, the CO2 levels had gotten down to 278 ppm.

>CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2)IMPROVES PLANT GROWTH AND QUALITYResearch has shown that in most cases rate of plant growth under otherwise identical growing conditions is directly related to carbon dioxide concentration.
The amount of carbon dioxide a plant requires to grow may vary from plant to plant, but tests show that most plants will stop growing when the CO2 level decreases below 150 ppm. Even at 220 ppm, a slow-down in plant growth is significantly noticeable.
Colorado State University conducted tests with carnations and other flowers in controlled CO2 atmospheres ranging from 200 to 550 ppm. The higher CO2 concentrations significantly increased the rate of formation of dry plant matter, total flower yield and market value." (This from the Home Harvest Garden Supply Website)

It would seem that the evil capitalists might have preserved life as we know it by releasing many millions of tons of the horrid pollutant CO2!
Keep in mind, ALL of the carbohydrates you eat, and all of the carbon in the proteins you eat, and all of the carbon in the fatty acid you eat, come from atmospheric CO2.
Folks, global warming and climate change are simply devices being used to scare you into compliance. The climate has and will always change. That is the only constant in climate, change.
Increasing CO2 and temperature on our little planet will result in much higher plant growth rates and much more land in the temperate zones. In other words, global warming would be a good thing for humanity. The only real problem with this rosy idea, is, dagnab it, our warming period seems to be over for a while. Remember, it ws the Little Ice Age that wiped out the Vikings and plunged Europe into the dismal Dark Ages (with a little help from the Church!)
Learn the facts before you drink anybody's Koolaid. And, try to stay warm!

And above all remember, "If government is the answer, it is a stupid question.

"Obama is going to pay for my gas and for my mortgage"

The title says it all. I found that on the internet as a headline. There are those that really believe that. A sad state of affairs. A sad statement on the state of our "publik edukashun" as well. Maybe our media companies could share in the shame.
Folks, Obama ain't got no money to speak of. He ain't gonna pay for squat. You are. All of the money in the country comes from the production of goods and services. the Federal Reserve ain't got no money either. It makes it up out of nothing and lends it to banks and to the scum in our government with which they buy your votes. And you, yes you and your kids and grandkids are on the hook to pay back the fake money lent them with real money. Money you, yes you, make by the production of goods and services.
Socialism won't work. Whether it be democrat sponsored or it be republican sponsored. You cannot indefinitely steal from the productive to enrich the banksters and to buy votes of deabeats and would-be deadbeats. There is no free healthcare. There is no free education. There is no free retirement. There is no free food. There is no free government. Someone must pay with real dollars or yen or rubles or clams. The only real currency is that which is accepted in payment and is understood to have a value. It is a matter of faith. Once the manufacturing of money from nothing is started, it always goes to the same place. Inflation and inevitably, bankruptcy. One day folks wake up and realize that the house they bought ain't worth $450,000 real dollars they have to earn by work. One day they realize the ARM went up faster than their real wages. Then the house is dumped. The bank can't unload it for $450,000 and they gotta write down their asset base. Since the money "paid" by the bank for the house wan't real, it was an entry made in an electronic account, no one has it now. It has dissappeared. All gone. That money has evaporated from the economy.
And now, to make the soup even better, the government will take ownership of the "non-performing" assets and give the bank money (in exchange for a little ownership and control). Now the house belongs to the government. Who is going to pay the local county and school taxes? Guess what just happened to your taxbase. Guess who will be called on to make up the difference? Remember, your town, state, city, county and schools all have bond obligations. Money they borrowed in your name. Since the taxbase just got smashed, there are going to be even more loans going into default. Who is going to bail those out? And, after a few years and the federal government decides to go and look at their "asset (remember the house that was repossessed and taken over by Uncle Sam), the "asset will be in ruins. the copper and other sellables will be gone. The windows will be knocked out and the house will be in ruins. Instead of the "asset" carried on the government's book (undoubtabley at the original $450,000 so as to make the program look solvent) there will be a disaster that will cost thousands to knock down and haul off.
So goes another government solution to a problem caused by government in collusion with banksters!
By the way, do you know who owns the Federal Reserve that is loaning all this money to the banks and to you at interest through the Federal Government's borrowing? Not the government. Not you. the Federal Reserve is a private corportation owned by the Rockerfellers and Roschilds among others. The same bunch that own the Bank of England.
There is a reason that our Constitution only allowed the states to coin money in gold and silver and made no provisions for a central bank.
If any of this interests any of you, please google the "Tulip Bubble". read it and apply the concept to today's situation. There ain't nuthin new under the sun.
And, as I have written and said ad nauseum:
IF GOVERNMENT IS THE ANSWER, IT IS A STUPID QUESTION!

Madder than an old wet hen

This has been a tedious and vexing day. Linda and I were planning to leave this morning for another extended stay on the road. As usual, there were a bunch of things that weren't finished so, we were harried. Then, things started breaking down.

First, I had yet to install my mother-in-law's new computer. No problem, right? RIGHT!!!! Oops!! I got it all hooked up and the most important stuff transferred to a thumb drive so she could access/move it at her leisure. No problem. And..... AOL is on every computer made right from the factory, right? WRONG!!!! No chance. Well, we have had at least a dozen of the stupid things sent to us in the last few months. We have one around here somewhere, right? WRONG!!! So, I will just call around town and find a freeby disk and we are in business. I called WalMart and spoke to the lady in electronics. I asked if they had an AOL disk. She left the phone for a few moments (I presumed to look and make sure they had it) and returned with an affirmative answer. There is joy in Mudville! So, after calling dispatch and ascertaining we had no load as yet, I drove the 15 miles to Navasota WalMart and entered to get my disk. My non-existent disk. That's right. they no got. I lost my sense of humor pretty quick. The lady I had talked to tried to palm off a Netzero disk on me. After all, they are all the same. "No, lady, my mother in law has an account with AOL and you cannot access AOL with a Netzero disk."

Well, I found some other stuff to buy while there and got some cash from the ATM while I was there. Not a complete waste of time and gas.

So, I go to install a 12 volt splitter in the Kenworth. No bolts that will fit. Dig more. Still no bolts. I drive to Anderson and buy some bolts that will fit. Get home and the bolts have miraculously shrunk so as to be too short. GRRRRRR!!!! Drill the holes out a bit and voila' we have success.

I went to put some salad in gallon ziploc bags and...yes, you guessed it-- no gallon bags in the house. The salad is in quart bags and is in the truck.

Called the rocket scientists in dispatch and asked where my trailer and load are and they haven't a clue. I had told them last week we would be ready to go today. Several times. I also reminded them that THEY had sent another driver to pick up my trailer and, therefore, I no longer had a trailer in which to haul a load. They assured me they would have both a trailer and a load for us today. They didn't and don't.

So, tomorrow we will drive to Houston, to the Macy's distribution center where there is supposed to be a trailer empty and ready for us. Here is hoping.

I normally am able to keep my cool pretty well. Today, such was not the case. I have been madder than a wet hen most of the day. I am taking my better half and my mother-in-law to Navasota this evening to dinner if it hairlips the pope.

Tomorrow will be a better day. It better be or I am liable to be on the evening news!

A letter to my so-called representatives in Wasnington, D.C.

Senator:
I have proposal for you.Whereas: I am agin all this thieving I ain't in on.
And.
Whereas: You in Congress have seen fit to steal from future generations to bail out a bunch of criminal bankers, a necessity caused by their taking insane risks,
I offer the following:
I have some non-performing assets I would like to divest myself of. To wit: consisting of two motorcycles that no longer run (thus the designation: non-performing asset). I will let them go to the possession of the Federal Government for the sum of $50,000 dollars American each. This being $100,000.00 for the two. I am in possession of clear titles for both and am willing to transfer said titles for the sum of $20,000 each or $40,000 for the pair. I think this a fair document fee. (This a much better deal that the government is getting for the unknown basis deriviatives being bought from banks.)
In addition: I am in possession of a Jeep Cherokee (1981, clear title) that I will transfer to the ownership of the government for the sum of $100,000 American dollars. The document fee for title transfer will be $30,000. This vehicle in need of complete restoration, hence, the designation: non-performing asset.
In addition: I have a riding lawn mower that hasn't run in over two years. this should meet the requirements to be considered a non-performing asset as well. I will transfer ownership to the Federal Government for the sum of $10,000 American dollars. There is no title to this asset.
If the government should like delivery of these assets, it can be arranged. I will cover delivery anywhere in the continental United States for the sum of $10,000 American dollars for each item, plus applicable fuel surcharge based on 1 mile per gallon and the weekly DOE cost of fuel price juxtaposed against a fuel basis price of $0.36 per gallon. Delivery to be expected within three years of receipt of payment.
I think you can see this offering is in the best interest of both the taxpayer and the thief (uh, excuse me, I meant: me). I, as an alternate delegate to the Texas Republican Convention, listened to you with rapt attention. You told us how the evil Democrats were going to spend us into oblivion and how their meddling in our freedoms was so bad. You told us of the evils of bloated and expensive government and how you and the rest of the "conservatives" had learned your lesson and would not be consorting with the "evil" Democrats any longer. It was smaller government and less regulation all the way.
You stood so resolutely and looked so earnest. And I bought it. I really believed that I had at least one real conservative voice in Washington. Bush, I knew was a write off. A big government fascist. But you, you were an honest Senator that would work untiringly to control government. You were our champion in Washington to fight the dragons of socialism and runaway government.
And then, this morning I find out you not only voted for the $700 billion communist bailout. You voted to add another $100 billion to it and also to give the IRS even more power to screw with "We the People". There are 450 pages of hogwash and communism all piled together in one treasonous document. I am thankful my wife waited till I had eaten breafast before telling me. It would have made me unable to eat.
I expected the Democrats to vote for this fiasco. But not you. I can still see your earnest face and hear your words at the convention. My god, what a kick in the balls. You of all people.
After this betrayal, I have been thinking. You and I both know the economic problems are caused by a combination of the existence of the Federal Reserve ( not federal and not a reserve) combined with government meddling in the economy. And it don't take a real smart person to realize that more of what cause the problem ain't gonna cure it. So, I am left to ponder: Are you an idiot? Are you a traitor? Who bought you and for how much? I guess it soesn't matter. You sold us ("We the People") down the river.
I had to determine, was I madder at you for betraying me, or at myself for buying your act. I think the latter.

One small step.....

Yestersday was an important day. "We the people" put enough pressure on the criminal class in the House of Representatives to temporarily stave off the fleecing bill. Congress and the President wish to mortgage your and my future even more to bail out bankers who lent way too much money to folks with no prayer of paying it back. The house prices were inflated and the loans were adjustable. The bankers were fools and greedy as were the house buyers. As with all bubbles, it had to burst. I am not liable for other folks stupid decisions. I have made my share and have lost a house and a boat as well as several jobs. No one has bailed Linda and I out. We got up, went back to work and got ourselves going again.

This is not over. Congress must save the Federal Reserve (not federal and not a reserve, by the way) as it gives the government the mechanism to borrow non-existent money and obligate you to pay it back with interest. It is faux money being created from nothing, but it must be paid back to the Federal Reserve with interest. That interest, however, is real money created by the production and sale of goods and services. This is the real cause of inflation, the most insidious tax of all.

Please call your congresscritters and let them know your feelings and thoughts. I, for one, am not willing to live in thrall to any man. Not Bush, not Obama, not McCain or Bernanke. This abomination must end.For us to be truly free, we must own ourselves. That means our time, our effort and our initiative. If congress or any other entity has the ability to steal your substance from you at will, you belong to them as sure as a slave belongs to his master. Do you wish to be free, or live in thrall to the criminal class we call our leaders? It is your choice. I have made mine.

CLimate change

This in response to a post I read concerning bovine flatulence and its attendant dangers

Termites trump cows when it comes to methane emmisions! Check it out online. Carbon dioxide levels might well be a trailing indicator of temperature rise. It has been at higher levels in the past than it is now. And without the burning of fossil fuels. If our cure has nothing to do with the ailment, how can it help?
CLimate change is normal. There is no stasis in climate. It warms and it cools. Also, our sun and solar system are a developing situation. Just as a human is an infant but once, the earth and sun will be the age it is right now, only right now. In a few billion years, if science is right, the sun will blow up and then implode. The ultimate climate change!
What I find interesting is that in the early seventies, the "climate change" boogie man was global cooling and the onset of an ice age. In the eighties and ninieties up until recently, the monster under the bed was global warming. Now the watchword has changed to "climate change'.
All of the above "problems" seem to be best addressed by raising taxes and destroying personal property rights as well as any economies that seem to be in the way.
I have lived a "back to nature" life style for several years. No electricity, no running water, no TV and no internet. It ain't all it is cracked up to be. Been there, done that and don't necessarily want to do it again. Most folks that espouse this revolution do so from the comfort of an airconditioned apartment while reading and opining on a computer powered by electricity.
There is nothing perfect. There is nothing without cost of some sort. However, we have the greatest lifestyle in human history right now. If we allow the alarmists to have their way, we will retrograde to the fifteenth century rather quickly. And with the decline if lifestyle, you can depend on a return to feudalism. Thnk about a life without the benefits provided by capitalism and the oil economy: Electricity. Safe abundant food. Clean water to drink and bathe in. Medicine. Communications. Safe affordable travel. Air conditioning. Heat. Affordable and abundant clothing. Entertainment, freedeom of action and speech.
Instead of complaining about the best time in history, perhaps we would be better occupied by seeing hoow much better we can make life for more of the earth's population. Most of the world lives in oppressing, abject poverty caused by political problems, not a lack of resourses. Maybe we could bring them capitalism and the ownership and control of private property. Then, they too could participate in the good life.
Humans are not a pathogen.

"Free" health care

This is from home in Anderson, TX. Well, the upshot of the deal is, the government has decided obesity is a leading cause of increased health care costs.
Here is the gist of the situation: If you are a male, you are allowed to have a waist line of up to 33.5 inches. If you are a woman, you get 35.5 inches. All those over 40 years of age will comply to these specifications. Failing to do so within the 4 month grace period will result in mandatory enrollment in a re-education program. If that fails, you will be incarcerated and physically reduced in weight and size.
To those of you that think that "universal health care" or "government health care" is a good idea, please take note. When you take the man's money, you will take the man's orders.
If you are out of specification, or have genetic problems you will pay more, and will be penalized. You will be forced to do as you are told and will be re-educated. If you fail, you will wind up either incarcerated or dead. That is the way of bureaucracies.
There ain't nothing free. Folks that don't know you do not have your best interests at heart. It is about power and control. Period.
Before you vote, take time to think, not feel. Be logical and use what you know of human nature.

Remember, if government is the answer, it is a stupid question.

Salmonella in Tomatoes

I haven't written in a while, but, I am back.

This lastest FDA scare boggles the mind. We are supposed to believe that salmonella somehow got to the inside of tomatoes all over the place all at once. A few problems with this:

First, a tomato is a hard skinned fruit. Salmonella cannot get to the inside unless the skin is cut. Plants do not pick up bacteria from the roots and carry them up into the plant. Don't happen.

Second: We gotta put a lockdown on all the tomatoes because we have no idea where the offending tomatoes came from. Poppycock. Balderdash. How about: pure bullshit. The restaurant or grocery store knows damned well where they bought their produce. The market that sold it has bills of lading showing the origin of every load that they sold. Each box of produce has bar codes and numbers showing the farm it came from, how, who, where and when it was shipped et cetera.

Third: We don't know how the salmonella got into humans: Bullshit. Period. Salmonella is primarily associated with raw poultry. The old man that died supposedly got the tomato from a mexican restaurant. Let us think about this and use a little reasoning. I am willing to bet that an illegal alien or possibly just an untrained and unmotivated as well as unsupervised "food worker" messed around with some raw chicken and then, without washing his or her hands, or without changing his or her little gloves, put together a dish using raw tomatoes. Voilla'. Salmonella has been transferred to an unsuspecting customer.

This whole thing is a government test. One. to see if the sheeple will buy the story, and two, to see what happens when supply chains are interrupted. We once again have failed the test.

If you want to remain healthy, do not cross-contaminate raw poultry and foods that are not going to be cooked afterward. Don't eat fast food. Don't trust government to take care of you. Grow a garden.

Keep your powder dry and remember: If government is the answer, it is a stupid question.

How long do we have?

This was written over two hundred years ago. I think it is particularly pertinent today. Please read and think. Do not emote or feel. Think.

Do you wish to live as a slave? Rmember, if you take the man's money, you are his. The irony is, the money we take, was stolen from us first.

Here is the piece sent me by a friend:

How Long Do We Have?
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new
constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at
the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the
Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a
permanent form of government.'
'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters
discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'
'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who
promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that
every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which
is always followed by a dictatorship.'
'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the
beginning of history, has been about 200 years'.
'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the
following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. We have been honored to have been owned by some of the finest of the species over the years. One, Lefty, is now looking down on us from doggy Valhalla as we breathe. I would shoot someone over my dog at my home.

That being said: I am fixing to vent on this whole Michael Vick thing.Dogs are possessions. They exist at the pleasure of the human. Originally they were hunting animals and were charged with guarding kith and kin as well as other livestock. In some cultures they are considered food. As human civilization (not sure that really exists, but for the sake of argument, say it does) developed, dogs were used in war. As some got richer, some hunting breeds such as poodles were sissied up and used as accessories for the royals. In other words, dogs were bred for certain purposes to suit their owners.

Since dogs are descended from the wolf and the fox, they are predators and scavengers. They eat meat. Since most meat, in its original form, resists being eaten, dogs have the ability to catch and dispatch prey. They have the predisposition to attack and kill. They also, as pack animals are prone to protect what they consider their area and their associates. Now, folks with big ideas of their manhood and little brains decided that it would be great fun to take these naturally aggressive creatures and pit them against one another and against all sorts of other animals such as bear and lions for sport. Whoever had the baddest dog also had the biggest dick. Sorry to be blunt, but that is the way it is.

Fast forward to the twenty first century. Folks in this country have money, cars, TV's and all they could ever want to eat. Some however, haven't developed much beyond the Roman spectator, though. Dog fights still happen. Chicken fights still happen. Bull fights still happen. As is real in nature, one critter, sometimes both expire as a result of said contest. The owners of said contestants get to vicariously experience life and death conflict with little or no possibility of injury. As a bonus the folks that are watching can add to the fun by wagering on the outcomes. There is nothing new under the sun.

Those of us higher human can look down our noses at the cretins that indulge in these animal fights. We can look down our noses while we watch grown men slam into one another on the gridiron or beat each other senseless in the ring.Perhaps we should be a bit introspective in our opinions of those who fight animals. Could it be that there is a little of us in those folks we hate? I think so.

We tend to dislike in others what we dislike in ourselves. And, what do you think of national leaders that send other folk's kids to fight and die in foreign lands? Are they better than Michael Vick who sends his dogs into combat? Is the human progeny of this land worth less than the life of the beasts?

Michael Vick is a product of a gangster lifestyle that is glorified in song and picture. Our culture has relapsed into a quagmire of incongruence. We glorify the bad guys and then condemn their behavior. We are importing an entire culture of blood conflict from Mexico and points south. Do we really think we can preserve our pure and lily white culture while importing the folks that fight chickens, dogs and bulls in every town square?

Michael Vick is, in my opinion, a cretin that should be horsewhipped for abusing dogs. Does that make him a criminal? No. It makes him a cretin using his possessions in a way I strongly disagree with. Can one be convicted of conspiracy to commit a non-crime? Not in a rational world. Perhaps if we stopped worshiping our own gladiators, they would not act as poorly as they do. Perhaps if we put our money where our mouths are and lived the way we tell others to, we would not spawn such behavior we say we abhor.

I think we need to mind our own business and vote with our wallets. If someone behaves in a way we really don't like, we don't have to buy their album or a ticket to their game. We could even, if we really felt strongly about it, write a letter to their label or team and let the money men know why we aren't patronizing their product.

Damn a man that would needlessly hurt an animal. He is not big nor strong. He is a bum. In like fashion, damn a man (or woman) who would send other's children to die so as to make their legacy. Violence is real and has been throughout the known existence of humans. I think it is time we decide to use it only in defense or as a matter of last resort.

Well, That is what I am thinking today.

Illegal noises

I met a woman not long ago in a bar in Vinton, Texas (Just west of El Paso). This bar is not 2 miles from the U.S./Mexican border. She had an accent not of the United States. The news was on the television back of the bar and there was a piece about illegal aliens on.

The lady went ballistic cussing about illegal aliens. When she calmed down, my wife and I engaged her in conversation, curious to say the least. Turns out she had immigrated here illegally several years ago and worked as a nanny in New Jersey for several years. I don't know why, but she returned to her home country and sought legal status here in the U.S. After years and many thousands of dollars, she became a naturalized citizen.

After more years she decided to go to Europe and vacation culminating in a visit to her son in Denmark. She had her U.S. Passport and thought everything was kosher. And it was, until her attempted return home to the United States.

Now, mind you, this woman speaks clear English and worked and payed taxes her whole time here as a citizen. Citizen, I said.

Upon attempting to return, she found that someone, somewhere had made an error in her paperwork. She was denied entry into the United States. And she could only stay in Denmark till her visitor visa expired. Two weeks and $10,000 later, she got to go home.

When I met her in the bar, she was livid and cursing illegal aliens at the top of her lungs. After meeting her and hearing her story, I know the "rest of the story".

Folks, it is not about being racist. It is not about hating Mexicans. What it is about, is the rule of law, and the fact the citizens of the United States are bound by the laws of the land. There are up to 38 million people here thumbing their collective noses at the rule of our law. If they are not constrained by our law in our land, how can we be? Without the rule of law, we will have anarchy.

Don't let the slick-mouthed politicians snow you with their need for votes and free labor. Look through the haze and see the truth. And remember history: When Rome allowed the Visigoths to enter illegally for the same reason, it fell. A country is defined by borders (where is it geographically?), language (How do folks communicate otherwise?) and a common culture. Without that, there is nothing but a vacuum. Nature abhores a vacuum so another power will emerge. It is not likely to be a nice one.

Today's rant is on welfare. Specifically, the government program used to ostensibly support the helpless. Of course, we know that is not what it is. It is a way to buy votes with other's money while assuaging the consciences of the wealthy do-gooder. But, let's take a look anyway.

Who are the greatest number of folks living on the dole? They are healthy folks that have chosen, for the most part to have children with men they absolutely knew would not support their own progeny. And, to make matters worse, they can collect more money for each child they produce. I am not talking about the straight out fraudulent welfare recipients here, just those that are "legitimately" on the dole).

Now, lets look at what we call a desirable familu unit. We have a strong, dedicated father figure who feeds, clothes and corrects his brood. We have the dedicaated mother who cares for and corrects her brood. We have the brood who look up to their mother and father and learn to emulate them. Work hard, keep your word and stand up to your responsibilities. Then the brood grows up and has their own broods and continues the tradition. Over a long period of time, a culture is developed that is self perpetuating and self supporting.

With the current programs what do we get? A woman has kids that she cannot support and has no desire to try. The male of the species has absolutely no responsibility at all. He can lay up with the women and drink all day if he so chooses. The women will use their welfare money to feed and care for the deadbeat man or get a beating. The kids grow up believing the school is responsible for breakfast and lunch. Supper is a microhot bought with foodstamps or WIC. The children learn that nothing at all is required of them except perpetuating the function of breathing. These kids grow up and make another, even more useless generation. Since we have more and more of these deadbeats being produced, the burden on society increases.

What are the economic pressures we are developing with this scenario? First, since more kids on welfare means more money, there is an economic advantage to having more of them. Since day care is provided and food and housing is provided, there is little pressure to limit family size. second, the productive have no advantage to producing large numbers of kids because of the expense. The productive therefore tend to have smaller families. With an increase over the generations of the non-productive and a decrease in the numbers of the productive, the balance swings in favor of the non-productive. Who will feed thse folks when they outnumber the productive?

Also, don't you find it a little condescending and holier-than-thou to state these folks on the dole can't support themselves? What, are you saying these people are too stupid to take care of themselves? Surely you are not.

It is immoral to steal from the productive to buy votes from those who chose to lay on their collective asses and beg. It is even more immoral to stand in front of folks and rationalize this theft and call it moral. Perhaps it is time to look at what a right is and what comes with it.

First of all, you cannot have a "right" to something that belongs to someone else. Think about it. If my right to something takes it, or something else from you, my right cancels your right. That ain't right, is it? So if a right to something precludes taking it or something else from someone else, I would guess I do not have a "right" to food. Education is a cost to someone, so, I guess I cannot have a right to that either.

Hmmm.

Let us explore this a bit. Our Constitution guarantees us a few rights. Let us see what some of them are.

First: A right to free speech. Look at this a minute. I can talk all I want and not hinder your ability to talk. I can write all I want and not hinder your right or ability to write all you want. But, here is a kicker. If I, in my talking, lie about you and cause you damage, I can be held liable. What? Liable? Yes, liable. I do not have the right to falsely accuse you.

Second: A right to keep and bear arms. I can buy and keep one hundred guns at my home and not hinder your right to keep and bear arms. A thousand, ten thousand. But, and it is a BIG BUT, I cannot take my guns and use them to rob you or "accidently" shoot your horse.

Have you noticed a theme here?

Both rights mentioned come with responsibilities. Yes folks, responsibilities. There is not a privelige or authority that does not come saddled with one or more responsibilities.

Look at a right as an authority. Authority must come with responsibility and vice versa. We have the right to freely assemble (supposedly), but we don't have the right to tear down private or public property.

Now, let us use logic on this little situation.

Say I have the right of self determination. I can do what I will with myself as long as I don't mess up someone else's situation. Sound good, right? Now, say I want to smoke, but being a bit of a deadbeat, I decide I need "free" medical care. OK, I lobby Congress and get "free" medical care. Life is good. Me and my fellow deadbeats have foisted upon a nation "free" medical care. Whoa! How are we going to pay for this? I know, lets put a little tax on everybody that works. That will do it. And, we must control costs and it seems that smoking might cause lung cancer. Damn, we will have to outlaw smoking. Now I have been prohibited from my self determination.

How did we get here?

When we cede our authority to another, whether it be another person or a government, we give up all rights related to that authority. the two are inextricably intertwined.

Social Security is a case in point: The American public decided to cede their responsibility for their own futures to the government. It was only a little money out of each check and it would provide a modicum of security for the future.

How did it work out? 14% of your pay is taken from you each paycheck and invested in nothing. 14% of your work time is taken, folks. Out of 2080 hours worked in a standard work year, 291.2 hours are taken. Now, Social security is broke. The only answer seen by government is to take more.

What if you had taken responsibility for your own future? What if you had put that money up and saved for the rainy days coming? You would be a lot better off. You could have bought disability insurance to cover the possibility of an early dibilitating injury. And think of the amount of money would be available for investment!

Think about it. Any time you give your resposibility to someone else, you give the right, or, authority, at the same time.

How much more of your life do you want to give away?

Using taxs dollars to commit crime

Our beloved federal government has laws on the books that prohibit harboring illegal aliens. Call them what you will, undocumented workers, fugitives, needy.... if they are not here legally, they are illegal aliens. As I was saying, our federal government has a bevy of laws prohibiting the harboring of illegal aliens. Harboring. What does "harboring" mean?

Well, as I read the warning poster on the wall at a shipper in Laredo, Texas, harboring includes: transporting, feeding, providing housing, transportation and more. The penalties for providing these services all include stiff prison sentences. The real bad boy penalty is for having an illegal alien die while under your care. That carries up to life in prison.

That sets the stage.

Your tax dollars are being used to violate these very laws. That's right. Money is being taken from you against your will and used to commit the crime of harboring illegal aliens. Let me illustrate.

Right now there are illegal aliens being given healthcare on your nickel. It isn't free. You are paying to take care of illegals in violation of the federal law. Right now there are illegal aliens being housed in low income housing all over the United States. It is bad enough that money is being stolen from those who make it to house legal U.S. citizens too lazy to work. But is really a crime for the stolen money to be used for housing illegal aliens, again, in violation of federal law.
Right now there are illegal alien children going to school on your nickel, again, in violation of federal law. Right now there are illegal aliens riding public transportation and in school busses, again, in violation of federal law.

Now, here is my question for you: If one of these illegals dies while being harbored or transported, who gets the life sentence in prison? Should it be you, the taxpayer? After all, it is your money that is being used to violate the law. Should it be the mayor of the town where the crime takes place? Should it be the head of the hospital or school?

How is it that we have been hoodwinked into beleiving that our government can steal our money and then use it to break the very laws that supposedly bind all of us? Since the days of the Magna Carta, it has been that the government has to follow the same laws as the citizens. What happened?

I submit we have been so lazy and univolved so as to have lost the very liberty our country was founded to guarantee. We have had our hands out so long trying to get something for nothing that we have lost our liberty. Remember, your time is all you have. When a large part of it is taken in taxes and in inflation (the most insipid tax of all), your very life is taken from you. And your life is being taken and spent on that which would land you in jail if you were to be caught doing the same.

So, who should be punished, the President, the Congress, the Mayor, the coyote or us? Think about it.

Away too long

I have been neglecting my blogging. I am back and will try to be a bit more regular in my blogging.

There are many things in the political and economic realms that have aroused my ire and you can bet I will be on those subjects like a chicken on a june bug.

A list:
1. immigration, legal and otherwise.
2. The words that come to mind depend on who says them. From government I must say socialist method of frightening people into accepting a command economy, i.e. socialism or communism. From the U. N., I think of a method of frightening folks in the west into accepting parity with the third world countries. From true blue believers here in the developed world I hear guilt. Guilt at living in the greatest economy and lifestyle ever. This guilt is lived out in self flagellation and a half hearted desire to be "fair". From the rank and file citizen a reaction to the unending drum beat that the United States in particular and capitalism in general are responsible for all evils on earth.
In reality, there is no compelling evidence that humans have had any effect on global climate at all. There is no compelling evidence that there is a dicernible trend of warming, and what is more: there is no evidence that global warming is a bad thing at all.
The global warming scare is a religious phenomenon: Belief or faith in a thing even though it cannot be proven.
What is sure is that if we as a species succumb to the centralist government on a global basis, we will recreate the dark ages of ignorance and squalor. It will be thousands of years, in all likelyhood, before humandkind once more emerges thinking and allowing the individual to strike out on his own and build something grand and noble.
In a few words: Our global warming scare of today is very much analagous to the flat earth dogma of the Catholic Church in the 1300's and 1400's. Sea farers and explorers knew better but the church insisted on the dogma to control its followers.
You must look at who is to gain by the global warming scare. It sure ain't the developed world or the semi-capitalist countries of the west. Russia, China and the rest of the socialist countries wish us to bind ourselves to ridiculus economic destruction so they can forge forward. Please know, that no matter what treaties these folks sign, they will not abide by them. We quit burning fossil fuels. We destroy our way of life. They keep burning fossil fuels and subjugate us. THe world keeps turning and the climate does what it will. Mankind is remanded to slave status. What have we gained?
Think about it.

More on aid to Lebanon

The more I think about our President sending aid to rebuild Lebanon the more angry I get. First, all spending bills originate in the House of Representatives. That is the Constitution and there is no equivocation. Bush has no spending power whatsoever. Second, there is no Constitutional justification for the Federal Government to give any taxpayer money to anyone. The only legitimate spending available to the government is for its own operation, Period. But, for just a minute pretend the government had the legal power to steal money from American taxpayers and give it away. Just pretend. How in the hell does our criminal leadership justify taking hard earned taxpayer dollars and giving them to Lebanon for rebuilding while our own Gulf Coast is still in shambles? New Orleans is totaled, the southeast coast of Texas is totaled, the southwest coast of Louisiana is totaled, the Mississippi gulf coast is totaled. These are American taxpayers whose entire existences were torn asunder by a storm they had no part in creating (I do admit the folks in the New Orleans area do keep electing inept thieves to run their business) that are left out in the cold while our criminal traitorous president dares to send $10.00 for every man, woman and child in the United States to rebuild Lebanon. Lebanon, where Hezbollah was allowed to live, arm, organize and start a war with Israel. Am I missing something here? Our President and all other politicians that support him are guilty of treason and conspiracy to commit treason in this matter.

Aid to Lebanon

Now and again I get the feeling I am living in the twilight zone. Let me get this straight: Hezbollah (living in Lebanon obviously with the blessing of the Lebanese people and government) attacks Israel. Israel responds (rather weakly) and busts up part of Lebanon. The United States send aid to rebuild Lebanon. I am confused to say the least. Which side are we on? We can't be on both, they are mutually exclusive. I think Israel would be willing to allow muslims to exist but the reciprocal is out. So, we have some choices to make. We can go home and keep our noses out of the area and let them settle it once and for all. We can pick Israel as an ally and destroy any that attack her. We can wipe out Israel and let the camel jockies take over what is now Israel and ruin it. Or, we can continue pretending these age old enemies will get along. The last is a disaster. It seems to center around the city center and the trials and travails of getting people to move back in and getting tourists to return. I have family there and their take on the situation has been a bit different. My sister and her husband have basically told me the city is dead and is unlikely to be revived. I thought that they were overstating things. Today, I saw it. The damage is unbelievable. What we saw of the tsunami damage in Indonesia is more like what the lower 9th ward and the eastern suburbs are like. The city is dead. Downtown was only under 2 or 3 feet of water and parts of the French Quarter were spared completely. However, the downtown area is still pretty much deserted. A few businesses are trying to operate. Flooded cars are piled under the interstate. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of them. Storefronts are boarded up. The National Guard and the State Police are crawling all ove rthe city. For all intents and purposes the city is under martial law. The French Market is open, barely. There is damage to roofs, windows are boarded up. One the way down Tulane Avenue to downtown, most of the traffic lights are still nonfunctional. Most of the businesses along Tulane are destroyed. Now, lets leave the Quarter and travel toward the 9th ward. The levees broke and the water pushed houses into piles. Forget the crap about the levees overtopping and water slowly filling up the town. The levees failed catastophically and the surge smashed everything in its path. The flood took less thaan thirty minutes to fill the entire area. The houses floated, the cars floated, everything is piles of debris. The houses that still stand have the casualty counts painted on the fronts of them. That is, the houses that have been searched. Many have not. There is not enough manpower to seach them all. Some are too badly damaged to safely enter. Many aren't there anymore. Lets travel to the lakefront. There is nothing left. Fires raged in the flood waters due to broken gas lines. Large areas are gone. There are large boats scattered all over. There are parts of boats sticking out of the water in the yachtclub harbor. There are boats on top of houses. There are cars on houses. there are houses that are on top of boats. As we drove toward Chalmette and Arabi, the damage went on for miles. Miles of total devastation and miles of ruined homes with casualty counts on the fronts. Areas where houses once stood that are barren. Houses, occupants, all gone. The factories and refineries in that part of town are destroyed. There is little to rebuild. And why rebuild? There are no utilities. No power, no water, no sewer and no gas. Murphy Oil refinery had some of its large oil tanks float and rupture. Oil is everywhere. We continued to the south and eat down toward Delecroix. The entire area is swept. Here the water came in from the gulf and from the marsh and met the water flowing through the levies. Houses and housetrailers are in pieces everywhere. Entire portions of communities are noticable only by the slabs and a little debris. The bayous are full of cars, trucks, buildings and sunken boats. There is heavy tree damage, in places all the trees are gone. In some areas the flood waters stood long enough that the standing trees are dead. It is beyond belief. Now the real horror: My sister told me of the shootings, of thousands of people dead and not counted, of the corpses being eaten by gators and rats. I thought she exagerated. She did not. The casualty counts are bogus. I spoke to a police officer that had the first boat in the water in his part of town while the storm was still blowing. I told me they were pulling bodies out of the water and dragging them up on rooftops so they could be picked up later. They were saaving the boats for live people they might be able to save. He told me the gators would swim up and get on the roofs and dragethe corpses back into the water. I believe him. He also told me the guard and police got into several fire fights with the local hoodlums. Many were killed. You know what? I believe him. The damage reported is not in any way representative of what actually happened. The New Orleans metropolitan area was for all intents and purposes destroyed. No one has any idea of the number of people killed. Putting a number on the dollar damage is impossible. The place hasn't even been totally examined to see what the damages are. And, the levies are still leaking.

Drugs, money and guilt

Today I read that Rush Limbaugh had reached a deal in his drug case. This shows that money can buy freedom from prosecution. If John Q. Citizen had been caught doctor shopping to get pain pills, he would have done jail time. Please understand, using drugs not prescribed for you is the same sort of crime as is smoking dope or doing mushrooms. It is a violation of the controlled substances act. If your doctor prescribes smoking dope to counteract the effects of chemotherapy and you get caught with the stuff or smoking it, you are going to jail. It is not about whether drugs are good or bad, it is about who owns you and who says what you will consume. I personally think that you should be able to do what you wish and good luck to you. Just don't steal to feed your habit or come to me for help after you screw your life up.

Question sent to my Senators

Recently I was picking up a load in Laredo, Texas and while at the G.M. Mexico facility I noticed a U.S. Government sign regarding the transportation and harboring of illegal immigrants. The gist of the message was that anyone transporting, causing the transportation or harboring of said illegal aliens were guilty of a Federal felony and eligible of up to life in prison.
This brings up questions. How can a citizen be held for a crime committed every day by local, state and Federal governments?
By allowing illegal aliens to proceed after apprehension is harboring by facilitating their further movement. Providing any financial assistance whatsoever would also constitute harboring. Drivers license programs, medicaid, welfare, education and all the rest fall under the term "harboring".
I am asking for a written response explaining to me why it is legal for government to steal money from me by force and using it to violate immigration law. I would also like to know what law or group of laws allow politicians and bureacrats to violate laws that could result in my being incarcerated for life were I to violate the same exact laws.
If it is indeed illegal to harbor and transport illegal aliens, I would like to know the methods by which I can initiate the charging of both individuals and government organizations for the violation of immigration laws? How might I as a citizen assure vigorous prosecution of said individuals and their eventual incarceration? What penalties could I expect for governmental agencies that are convicted of these violations?
Thank you for your time,
Benjamin Napier

Crime really does pay!

Cunningham of California recently was convicted of accepting money for legislative votes. It was called "bribery". Imagine that!

For this he was forced (?) to resign, pay some of the money he received in fines and will reportedly serve a little time. What is wrong with this picture? Nothing, so far. Now here is the rest of the story:

Cunningham will receive his congressional pension for the rest of his life. All the add-owns, all the COLA's etc. A pension he paid nothing for, a pension that you have paid and are paying for. That on top of the money he will make by lobbying congress, making speeches and "consulting".

Ain't that nice? Whatever happens to the old saying: "Crime doesn't pay"?

Those who cross our borders illegally are "illegal aliens". ie., they are here illegally. But....
if they are caught on this side of the border, they are issued a summons to appear in court and released. This summons functions as a pass at check points since they have already been detained. With this they just go where they wish. If not caught upon entry, they simple go where they wish.

When they get where they are going they are eligible for free medical care, welfare and their illegal kids go to school free. Now the esteemed President Bush wishes to issue blanket amnesty to them since they are already here.

Who says crime doesn't pay?

I have called my congress critters and asked for a list of the laws I could break and the rewards I will receive for breaking each. I get the impression the interns think I am trying to be humorous or rhetorical. I am not.

Could it be this gravy train is reserved for politicians and illegal aliens? Enquiring minds would like to know.

Crime really does pay!

Who do you trust?

I have been thinking about government in general and people in general and some questions have come to my mind.

One of which is: Why do we think that people we do not know and that do not know us will be the right people to turn our money and our very lives over to? I mean think about it; we send folks to office with the power to spend our money. That money is simply a tabulatable representation of our time and effort here on earth. It represents our labor and initiative. We take this very important measure of our effort and hand it to people we do not know to spend on whatever they wish.

Predictably, most of the spending is not in our best interest.

Why?

Another question I have is: Why do we believe that someone with no real world experience at anything other than being a lawyer and politician will be able to regulate technologically complex issues such as oil production and the environment? Why do we believe that folks that have no record of success in business will somehow be able to direct a society?

Might there have been a reason that the Founding Fathers of this once great nation limited the power of the Federal Government to little indeed?

Abortion and other touchy subjects

This morning I am in Syracuse, NY. Light puffy clouds and a bit of a frost this morning. Beautiful!

Well, here we are again. We have a nominee for the Supreme Court and the Democrats are dead set against him if he is likely to disagree with Roe v. Wade. Note I wrote disagree, not overturn. The Republicans on the other hand, will throw a fit if they think he will not overthrow the decision.

The funny thing is that, there is no mention of anything remotely resembling abortion in the U.S. Constitution. And, the 10th amendment specifically states that anything not covered is remanded to the states or to the people. From that it would seem to not fall under the auspices of the Federal Government.

I do have a take that would fall under the Constitution, however. As a citizen of the United States of America, I am a sovereign individual holding title to myself. If that is a fact, then I can do with myself and all of my parts as I will. Women are no longer considered chattel so could be considered sovereign individuals in their own right. It would seem that anything in or on their bodies would belong to them as well.

The rights of the unborn child are brought up quite a bit. I have this to say. To have rights, one must have responsibilities. Until a child reaches majority, he or she is not a sovereign individual but a ward of his or her parent or the government.

Then, the question is: do you consider yourself your owner? The only other choice is that the government is your owner. Think about it. Who owns you? Who owns your child? Remember, whatever sanctions you put on someone else can be placed on you.

I would that abortion was rare. It is not the Federal, State of Local government' place to decide or control the actions of the citizen unless his or her action has direct negative or unwanted effect on another citizen.

Drugs fall under the same logic in my opinion. If you wish to harm your mind and or body it is your business. However, if your habit induces you to steal from me, you could wind up dead. Also, do not look to me for rehab.

The big deals with drugs are actually the following: Unregulated commerce is very difficult to tax and the "War on Drugs" is big business. Legalizing drugs would break a lot of rice bowls.

That is it for now.

FEMA and other stupid ideas

I have been out of pocket for a while but am back.

I do have a pet peeve that is irking me so here goes!

Folks that are inconvenienced or marrooned by the latest hurricane have no one to blame but themselves. After all the storms last year and Katrina and Rita this year a few idiots decide to ride out Wilma. And we are supposed to feel sympathy for their plight. NOT!

First of all: if you live on the gulf coast, you are at risk for hurricanes. Always were and always will be. You get the tropical air and the fine sea breezes. The down side is the odd hurricane. Second: If you are living in hurricane alley, the government nor I (through taxes) are responsible for your losses. Buy insurance or suck it up. Third, If you are injured or have your stuff destroyed because you were too stupid to leave it is your tough luck. It is not a problem for the government to steal money from one group to give to another.

Nature is funny. We are given pain from which to learn. If we are protected, we tend not to learn. Stupidity should be painful.

You have a life full of decisions. You can make good decisions and usually good results tend to shake out. Make stupid decisions and you will hurt.

Well, that is it for now.

A start

I have been talking about starting a blog for a long time. My wife found this blogspot and basically told me I should go ahead and do it or shut up about it.

It is very likely that the main topics will be politics and economics. I will include some personal information I imagine, but will try to keep it a minimum.

If there are any readers, I welcome their comments. I will argue points via e-mail but do not promise to change my mind on any subject. Well argued points will be carefully considered. Foolish arguement and those based on socialism, communism or religious fervor will not be given the honor of a reply.

Well, that is it for my first post. Much more to come.
