Crime really does pay!
Cunningham of California recently was convicted of accepting money for legislative votes. It was called "bribery". Imagine that!
For this he was forced (?) to resign, pay some of the money he received in fines and will reportedly serve a little time. What is wrong with this picture? Nothing, so far. Now here is the rest of the story:
Cunningham will receive his congressional pension for the rest of his life. All the add-owns, all the COLA's etc. A pension he paid nothing for, a pension that you have paid and are paying for. That on top of the money he will make by lobbying congress, making speeches and "consulting".
Ain't that nice? Whatever happens to the old saying: "Crime doesn't pay"?
Those who cross our borders illegally are "illegal aliens". ie., they are here illegally. But....
if they are caught on this side of the border, they are issued a summons to appear in court and released. This summons functions as a pass at check points since they have already been detained. With this they just go where they wish. If not caught upon entry, they simple go where they wish.
When they get where they are going they are eligible for free medical care, welfare and their illegal kids go to school free. Now the esteemed President Bush wishes to issue blanket amnesty to them since they are already here.
Who says crime doesn't pay?
I have called my congress critters and asked for a list of the laws I could break and the rewards I will receive for breaking each. I get the impression the interns think I am trying to be humorous or rhetorical. I am not.
Could it be this gravy train is reserved for politicians and illegal aliens? Enquiring minds would like to know.
