A letter to Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson

Senator Hutchinson,
I gotta hand it to you, you are good. real good. I, as an alternate delegate to the Texas Republican Convention, listened to you with rapt attention. You told us how the evil Democrats were going to spend us into oblivion and how their meddling in our freedoms was so bad. You told us of the evils of bloated and expensive government and how you and the rest of the "conservatives" had learned your lesson and would not be consorting with the "evil" Democrats any longer. It was smaller government and less regulation all the way.
You stood so resolutely and looked so earnest. And I bought it. I really believed that I had at least one real conservative voice in Washington. Bush, I knew was a write off. A big government fascist. But you, you were an honest Senator that would work untiringly to control government. You were our champion in Washington to fight the dragons of socialism and runaway government.
And then, this morning I find out you not only voted for the $700 billion communist bailout. You voted to add another $100 billion to it and also to give the IRS even more power to screw with "We the People". There are 450 pages of hogwash and communism all piled together in one treasonous document. I am thankful my wife waited till I had eaten breafast before telling me. It would have made me unable to eat.
I expected the Democrats to vote for this fiasco. But not you. I can still see your earnest face and hear your words at the convention. My god, what a kick in the balls. You of all people.
After this betrayal, I have been thinking. You and I both know the economic problems are caused by a combination of the existence of the Federal Reserve ( not federal and not a reserve) combined with government meddling in the economy. And it don't take a real smart person to realize that more of what cause the problem ain't gonna cure it. So, I am left to ponder: Are you an idiot? Are you a traitor? Who bought you and for how much? I guess it soesn't matter. You sold us ("We the People") down the river.
I had to determine, was I madder at you for betraying me, or at myself for buying your act. I think the latter.
