Illegal noises

I met a woman not long ago in a bar in Vinton, Texas (Just west of El Paso). This bar is not 2 miles from the U.S./Mexican border. She had an accent not of the United States. The news was on the television back of the bar and there was a piece about illegal aliens on.

The lady went ballistic cussing about illegal aliens. When she calmed down, my wife and I engaged her in conversation, curious to say the least. Turns out she had immigrated here illegally several years ago and worked as a nanny in New Jersey for several years. I don't know why, but she returned to her home country and sought legal status here in the U.S. After years and many thousands of dollars, she became a naturalized citizen.

After more years she decided to go to Europe and vacation culminating in a visit to her son in Denmark. She had her U.S. Passport and thought everything was kosher. And it was, until her attempted return home to the United States.

Now, mind you, this woman speaks clear English and worked and payed taxes her whole time here as a citizen. Citizen, I said.

Upon attempting to return, she found that someone, somewhere had made an error in her paperwork. She was denied entry into the United States. And she could only stay in Denmark till her visitor visa expired. Two weeks and $10,000 later, she got to go home.

When I met her in the bar, she was livid and cursing illegal aliens at the top of her lungs. After meeting her and hearing her story, I know the "rest of the story".

Folks, it is not about being racist. It is not about hating Mexicans. What it is about, is the rule of law, and the fact the citizens of the United States are bound by the laws of the land. There are up to 38 million people here thumbing their collective noses at the rule of our law. If they are not constrained by our law in our land, how can we be? Without the rule of law, we will have anarchy.

Don't let the slick-mouthed politicians snow you with their need for votes and free labor. Look through the haze and see the truth. And remember history: When Rome allowed the Visigoths to enter illegally for the same reason, it fell. A country is defined by borders (where is it geographically?), language (How do folks communicate otherwise?) and a common culture. Without that, there is nothing but a vacuum. Nature abhores a vacuum so another power will emerge. It is not likely to be a nice one.
